M is for Magic Cats
Fantasy Cat Watercolor on Hot Press Arches
"What if Harry Potter had actually been hairy?" my son asked me. "What if he had been a cat?"
If Harry were a cat, he would go to a different school for wizards. Professor Purrmore's School of Wizardry is much cozier than Hogwarts. No sinister castle for Professor Purrmore: her school is located in a warm, well-lit cottage. Instead of a Whomping Willow, the garden is filled with cat-nip, mint, spider plants, and creeping thyme, surrounded by a border of towering cat spruce.
During Potions Class, all the students drink warm milk.
Not a single monster lurks in the cellar. Gentle mice live there. They are able to speak--thanks to one of Professor Purrmore's spells—and are eager to share their knowledge with anyone who will listen.
Professor Purrmore is always ready to read helpful passages from her Book of Magic. But most wonderful of all is the school's special blend of Black Magic Ink, which will fill in a student's homework for him as long as he knows the right spell to cast.
