Halloween Cards from Fairy Paintings
Halloween Art Cards
Ink on Bristol Board
I unearthed these two art cards while searching for something else. Back when my vision was a bit sharper, I used to paint art cards (otherwise known as ATCs for Artist Trading Cards or ACEOs for Art Cards Editions and Originals). Either name, the cards are miniatures which measure the same size as a baseball trading card, 2-1/2" x 3-1/2". I used ink instead of watercolors, so they have a different feel than what I usually paint.
Both of these fairy cards were just play. For “Frank 'n Fairy," I wanted to give a new twist on the Wife of Frankenstein by making her into a fairy. "The Pumpkin Seed Fairy" turned out a bit more sinister than I'd planned. I wanted the focus to be on the fairy first, and the black cat to be noticed in the second glance. I made cat eyes a bit too threatening though.
